Blumhouse Productions, Atomic Monster, and Universal Studios, the team behind the sci-fi haunted film, M3GAN are set to release their new supernatural thriller, Night Swim. This movie has been directed by Bryce McGuire and is based on the short film by the same name “Night Swim” that Bruce McGuire created a few years back along with Rod Blackhurst. This feature version of this movie stars Wyatt Russell, Amelie Hoeferle, Kerry Condon, and Gavin Warren as the main leads.
The main concept of this movie revolves around the haunted swimming pool. The haunted spirit terrorizes the family using the swimming pool as a weapon. Swimming pools are often a great place to spend time with your loved and dear ones but when you are alone inside the swimming pool where nobody is watching you it can be a claustrophobic and scary experience for someone. We can see in the film trailer, how the evil spirit tries to haunt and drown the people inside the pool.
Bryce McGuire, The director and writer of this movie marked his second film directorial from Night Swim after Unfollowed and other previous short films which he created. This film is produced by Jason Blum who has produced many iconic films in the past including films like Get Out, Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Purge, and Sinister. The director of globally famous haunted films like Saw, The Conjuring, and Insidious, James Wan has also worked as a producer for this film.
The official synopsis of this movie explains that the story of this film is about a retired baseball player who moved with his family into a new home with the hope that he will again return to pro ball. Ray thought that their home swimming pool located in the backyard would be fun and exciting for their kids. However, the dark past and the secret about this house are unknown to Ray and his family, and whether they would be able to survive and fight with the spirits or would become prey to it, that’s is the main suspense of this film.
How Night Swim Became a Movie:
In one of his interviews with Coming Soon, Bruce McGuire the writer and director of this movie said that when the short film by the same name was made a few years back, It was loved and praised by a lot of people and, almost everyone who watched the short wanted to know more about it and asked him about creating a movie about it but he wasn’t clear about this at that time always used to think that a short film is created only for short and it should be left like that only.
However, One day he suddenly had an idea that broke his perception about letting this film remain only as a short. He knew that the idea he thought had a feature-level mystery and a good feature film could be created with it. He then approached multiple studious to create a film with this concept and ultimately, James Wan’s Atomic Monster agreed to produce this film and in the last few years, Jason Blum’s Blumhouse also joined them for this film production.
Actors Scary Experience In Water:
In one of the interviews, Wyatt Russel and Kerry Condon were asked about their worst experience inside the water. Here’s what they shared.
Wyatt Russel: Seven to eight years ago, When Russel went for long-range fishing alone with his brother inside the sea, Usually on such long-range fishing trips once you entered inside the sea, you were not able to see land for almost four to five days and obviously, you can’t complain because you paid for the trip and now you are far away from the land. Not the water but the sea sickness that Russel had was the main reason why this was his worst experience inside the water. He always felt like throwing up on this trip because of sea sickness while catching fish.
Kerry Condon: She didn’t remember much detail but she said that in her childhood, Her sister tried to drown her in the water.
These were the personal worst experiences of the Night Swim’s cast inside the water.
Only a few horror films are released each year compared to other genres and most of the horror films are not even good from a story, direction, or experience point of view. However, The producers of Night Swim have managed to deliver many iconic great horror films in the past, Along with that the trailer of the film also looks promising, and mostly the film would be able to successfully deliver a good horror experience for the audiences in cinemas.
Night Swim releases in cinemas on 5th January 2024.
